Watch MAGELLAN :D

hellos!im back from OBS!anyone missed me?haha.

Guys,OBS is seriously damn freaking fun!!!no joke!

I missed everyone when im over there,but now i really miss OBS and my watch...

unkempt hair,dirty clothes,soiled shoes,burnt skin...but we all still enjoyed the camp!

oh anyways,we refer to our team as a watch.

lets start from the first day then.

Day 1:

I carried a super big trekking bag there geez.but turned out i wasnt the most funny one.all the instructors there carried the same kind and theirs' were much more bulky and heavy.Anyways,we were put into watches,and there were people from four different schools in a watch.i was in the same group as marcus,celine and edmund.yay~

we sat in the sun at the reception area from damn long man.and everyone was complaining and perspiring like hell.but we kept ourselves busy by talking haha.everyone complained that its boring on the first day,but on the last day,we dont bear to leave at all...

i met my instructor,and he's a very nice and handsome guy hahaa!his name is Bernard.

nice name,yeah?you can see him on the first picture,the one wearing a cap.and our watch name is oh-so-beautiful MAGELLAN!

All the watches had names like raffles,marco polo,shackleton and others,because these are all named after famous and respectable people.my instructor says magellan is one of the most famous navigators in the world in the forget what centuries haha.

and with that,we boarded the boat to pulau ubin~

over there he introduced to us the various places and we surrendered our handphones and wallets.saddedddd.

he showed us the store,where all the equipments are in.the tents,ponchos,mess tins,2 litre bottles,pots and woks,knives,life vests,trekking bags and all those stuff.it was cool!

next,each of us had to bring a plastic bag.and then we were given our own individual food for the five days,which consists of afew bread,biscuits,powder packets,oranges and apples.each of us have a plastic bag full of these to last us for five days,and we call them happy meals.like in MacDonalds' haha.but of course we also have group food,but they're kept in big barrels and kept in the store haha.We had high elements activity for today,and it was fun!For dinner,we have to cook ourselves by the jetty.we cooked rice,along with sardines and curry chicken.but our rice very hard lols.we sit by the jetty to eat,and there were like no railings so its pretty cool.but somebody's bottle dropped down into the sea haha.

Bernard also taught us how to pitch a tent.there were several kinds of knots to learn...

But luckily there were proper bathing facilities over there haha.

At night,one of the instructors rang the alarm bell,indicating a fire drill,and everybody proceed to the parade square at the jetty.we took approximately 8 minutes to settle down.the instructors kinda admonished us,saying we would have died if there's a real fire.but actually my group was fantastic man.cause while everyone was shouting out their group name for their members to come to them,we just walk in and we see our group liaos.and we all settled down fast haha.the instructor say we did a good job,but we settle at the wrong place hahaa!

DAY 2:

Woke up early,unpitched our tents,washed up,and met our instructor outside the store.The four watches-magellan,livingstone,marco polo,and shackleton which is the bravo division,had PT together.The PT was one of the most tedious for me!we did some stretching,and then we ran around the area for five rounds,and the area is like two times the size of a hall,and we cant stop!after running still have to jog on the spot,then we do jumping jacks.did twenty at first,but somebody didnt count so have to do another twenty,then somebody stopped jumping halfway,and we did another twenty jumping jacks.by then i was damn tired and perspiring like hell and i really really wanted to stopped cause i cant go on,but we still have to jog on the spot.then we did some jumping exercise,then jog on the spot.its crazyyy.then the instructor told us we have already completed ten minutes of cardiac exercise,which makes a big difference already.big difference,you can say that again...

after that i was literally sweating a river!had breakfast.bread with skippy peanut butter and honey i think.but nobody took the honey haha.then Bernard told us about the different kinds of leaders.basically there are three kinds:the autocratic leader,the democratic leader,and another one which i forgot the term used.he told us that he was once a autocratic leader,but now,he wants as well as is,a democratic leader.cause he says he doesnt want to force people to do things that they dont want to and make them unhappy,and here at OBS,the instructors all try to balance between the three kinds.after that,we had rock climbing.I dont really like rock climbing,cause i suck at it.After that,we all proceed for kayaking,yay!turns out the boat was a triyak,so we have three people on one boat.niceeee.they taught us all the different ways of paddling to change the directions,but we all already knew that,then the instructor named CJ,zhi hui's instructor said we're smart ._.

but i learnt that the right side is called port,and the left is starboard,and the front is called bow.lols!then they want us to wear our lifevests and go into the water to get used to the floating with the lifevest.we all held hands and floated and sang Majulah Singapura hahaa.next they taught us what to do when you capsize,then they want everyone to purposely capsize then come back onto the boat again haha.then we're off~ kayak for about two hours and we reached camp 2.Camp 2 was much more established.they have this replica of The Indiana,which is the ship that Raffles took here.cool right!its used as a high elements facility.The food this night really made us jump for joy ._.

There's a foodhouse here and the food are from catering services yay.finally some decent food~

After that,we had a briefing about the following day's sea expedition.we chosed two leaders from each group to lead us in the expedition.Meaning to say,the instructors wont be telling us where we should head,instead,they'll be on their speedboats and waiting for us at the various checkpoints.After that everyone went to pack their bags for the next day.The bag was super freaking heavy cause its two persons to one bag!so me and celine went to pack,and thats when we realised we've lost our happy meal!like what the hell?!it contains our food for tomorrow leh!but there's nothing we can do...boohoo.

Day 3:

Rise and shineee,and got ready for another six hours of kayaking!before we launched off,the instructor wanted us all to stand around in a circle,and everyone was to give a word of encouragement.when it was my turn,i dont know what to say!then i just anyhow blurt out something lols.And with that,we all set off into the sea :D

i was in the triyak with edmund and a girl named yaxin.

At the start,edmund was chattering away as usual but after awhile,he became seasick ._.

so its like only me and yaxin kayaking.but edmund tried to help us steer to the correct direction occasionally.along the way,whenever anyone wanted to like,go to the ''toilet'',they'll go down into the water and relieve themselves,and then climb back up hahaa.sometimes the waves are very big and everyone will get so excited haha.oh and,shianglin's triyak capsized two times haha!the second time,he tried to climb back up,but ended up he made the triyak capsize!we also had our lunch out there on the sea lols.and our lunch is....bread!but nobody mind,cause bread is quite good enough for us.after lunch,we carried on paddling non-stop until we reached our destination,and by then it was already near evening.we've paddled 14 kilometres in one shot!after we reached the campsite,we all pitched our tents and then did field cooking for dinner.our group had instant noodles and campbell soup :)

they put 7 packets of seasoning in the damn pot!z.will drop hair lo.but it was nice haha.after that the girls are responsible for washing all the utensils,cause our ''toilet'' is near the sea.it was super gross,because the sea in which we wash all our stuff,is actually where all the urine goes....yuck.

and the worst part is,after a day in the sea,all soaked in seawater,we couldnt bathe at all!cause there aren't any water over there,so when we are dried under the sun,there are salt crystals in our hair.had briefing with bernard,then we had some free time before we go to sleep.but everyone was so engrossed in their group talking,everyone didnt want to sleep at all.until we saw the instructor's torchlight shining quite some distance away,we all scampered back to our tents haha.then it was damn quiet when the instructors approach.but suddenly,one of the tents came down lols,then this guy was like shouting out "somebody there?" repeatedly.then z.the instructor was so angry,he shouted for us all to come out in ten seconds,and he asked us all to squat down and gave us an admonition.geez.then he gave us five minutes to arrange our tents and get back to sleep lols.

Day 4:

Awoke to the sound of rain dropping on our tent.and all three of us frantically got on our feet and ran outside.cause our tent doesnt have a spacer so we quickly take in our clothes on the tent and adjusted the tent,hoping that less rainwater will come in.It was 3 plus in the morning.luckily,the rain stopped after awhile.But we cant sleep anymore,so i went to find zhi hui.then me,zhi hui,zong xun and shianglin sat in their tent and talk about ghost stories lols.and it was eerie.cause we heard weird sounds outside.like something hitting the ground.and it wont stop.then zongxun shouted outside lols.then we all very scared haha.cause earlier on we heard somebody singing in the distance.around 5 plus,it started to rain again,and this time it was more heavy,so everyone wore their poncho and proceed to unpitch the tents.even with the poncho,we're still wet.after we unpitched the tent,i sat down on the ground and slept.in the rain!lols.after packing up,we went rafting at the quarry :D

To me,its the most fun activity o the camp haha.The four watches were given barrels,pipes and ropes and we are to construct our own raft.then the instructors will have to check if the raft is suitable to go into the quarry.my group's raft passed at the first assessment!yayy!then the other three groups have to redo,then we slack :x

we were the first to go into the water.the instructor says the water is ultra clean and pure,so when you drop any objects in it'll sink :o

when i first jumped into the water,it was like so refreshing!haha.then we paddled around on the raft,but halfway out there,one of the barrels came out.lols.then we had to quickly paddle back.Everyone helped to dismantle the raft and then we went to change into dry clothes.and yes,we changed in the forest!like z.you go to a spot then just change.so open right?!after that,everybody ate their happy meals,and off we go for hiking~

First,we went to the highest point of pulau ubin to watch the scenery.although the route was steep and narrow,we encouraged each other to endure and be careful of dangers.when we reached the point,the view is really coooool!and we can see the quarry too haha.after that we walk all the way back to camp 1.Next,the guys went to pitch the tents while the girls go and cook dinner ._.

By now,we're all reluctant to go home and we stayed up late to talk to bernard,and everyone had a good laugh!because of edmund haha.

Day 5:

Packed all our stuff,cleaned and checked the store,and mingled around.all of the watches have lost something haha,in the end we found back all our missing items.other watches have to pay for the missing stuff hah.After that we have jetty jump,but i never go :l

edmund was super funny.i have no idea how he jump,but when he jump down his trackpants tore haha,and the girl that he liked saw too!after the incident he still asked the whole magellan watch to accompany him to go and find that girl.then he go ask for her number lols.but in the end he failed haha.oh and then we had the commitment activity.is like you have to jump forward to touch a bell,then all the other watchmates will hold out a mat for you to fall on.Then bernard passed us our certificates :D

and our handphones and valuables!so desperate to get our phones back!and we all exchanged email and handphone numbers haha.when we arrived back in Singapore and reached school,all of us went to eat MacDonalds haha.and i gotten the purple cup yayyy!and we went home after that.they wanna wait together with me at the bus stop,then celine suddenly remember she left her bag at Mac lols,so she went back to take haha.so blur :D
